In the first half of 2025, Chile exported goods to 186 countries worldwide. The major export destinations include China, the United States, Japan, Brazil, South Korea, India, Peru, the Netherlands, Spain, and Mexico. Chile’s export value to China reached USD 18.959 billion, accounting for 35.8% of Chile’s total exports. The main export products to China include copper concentrate, fresh cherries, copper cathodes, pulp, lithium carbonate, iron, iodine, fresh plums, fishmeal, frozen pork, lithium sulfate, molybdenum, and fresh nectarines.

Chile is an economically open country in South America, and its export products are diverse, primarily based on mineral resources, agriculture, and marine products. Below are some of Chile’s major export products:

  1. Copper
Chile is the world’s largest copper producer, and copper is the country’s most important export commodity, accounting for a significant portion of total exports.
  2. Fruits
Chile is one of the world’s leading fruit exporters, especially for grapes, cherries, blueberries, apples, and citrus fruits. Due to its opposite seasonal cycle with the Northern Hemisphere, Chilean fruits can be supplied during the Northern Hemisphere’s winter.
  3. Seafood and Fishery Products
Chile is an important seafood exporter, particularly salmon (trout), cod, mussels, and seaweed. Salmon farming is highly developed in Chile.
  4. Wine
Chile is a world-renowned wine producer, especially known for its Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varieties. Chilean wines are highly popular in global markets.
  5. Pulp and Wood Products
With abundant forest resources, pulp and wood products are also major export items. Pulp is one of Chile’s key exports, particularly used in paper and paper product manufacturing.
  6. Chemicals and Minerals
Apart from copper, Chile exports other minerals such as lithium, molybdenum, gold, and silver. Lithium, widely used in batteries and electronic products, positions Chile as a key global lithium supplier.
  7. Meat Products
Beef and pork are important export products, especially to markets in Asia and the United States.
  8. Energy Products
Although Chile has limited domestic energy resources, its rapid growth in renewable energy (such as solar and wind power) has led to the export of related technologies and products.

Overall, Chile’s exports rely heavily on natural resources—especially mineral, agricultural, and fishery products. Due to its unique geographic location and climatic advantages, Chile has strong competitiveness in global markets for products such as fruits, wine, and seafood.

Chile’s major export ports include San Antonio, Valparaíso, Iquique, Arica, and Punta Arenas. These ports play different roles in Chile’s trade. For example, San Antonio is one of South America’s largest container ports; Valparaíso is a major cargo port; Iquique serves as a key free-trade and mineral export port in the north; Arica is known for agricultural and mineral exports; and Punta Arenas is the gateway to Patagonia and Antarctica.

Major Export Ports

  • San Antonio Port (San Antonio): Located near the capital Santiago, it is Chile’s largest port and one of South America’s major container ports. Main exports include fruits, wine, pulp, and wood.
  • Valparaíso Port (Valparaíso): A major cargo port known for its unique geographic location and well-developed facilities. Main exports include flowers, fish products, and fruits.
  • Iquique Port (Iquique): Located in northern Chile, it is an important free-trade and transshipment hub. Exported goods include minerals, textiles, and fishery products.
  • Arica Port (Arica): Located near Chile’s northern border, it is a key port for agricultural and mineral exports, especially copper and nitrates.
  • Punta Arenas Port (Punta Arenas): Located in southern Chile, it is the gateway to the Patagonia region and Antarctica, supporting scientific research and tourism.

Other Important Ports

  • Antofagasta Port (Antofagasta): Located in northern Chile, this port plays a significant role in mineral exports.
  • Puerto Montt (Puerto Montt): Located in southern Chile, it serves as a gateway to the Patagonia region.
  • Ventanas Port (Ventanas): Located in central Chile, mainly handling coal, copper, fuel, and corn.
