Ocean freight rate reference in week 35:

Following rate reference in week 35.

  • Asia main ports to USAWC USD 1100~13000 per 40GP;
  • Asia main ports to USAEC USD 13000~17000 per 40GP;
  • Asia main ports for IPI points of USA is USD 20000~22000 per 40GP;
  • Asia main ports to Europe main ports and W. Med USD 17000~18000 per 40GP;
  • Asia main ports to WCSA USD 8500~9500 per 40GP; to ECSA USD 8500~9500 per 40GP.

Please note above rate is only for reference, carriers might only give space for higher rate, which will be from USD 25,000~30,000 per 40GP for different destinations.

The imbalance of supply and demand in ocean freight has caused rate skyrocket for almost a year. And there is no sign of cooling down until June in 2022 because port congestions, shortage of containers, delayed schedules are still affecting the supply chain. There are 90% commodities transported by ocean freight each year, so higher freight rate will definitely push up the selling price when commodity finally arrives at the hands of consumers. Governments of every country will try to stabilize the ocean freight rate even they cannot control the rate by official documents. And high profit influence carriers more willing to invest on new vessels to digest the demand of customers. Based on the considerations of customers, carriers and governments, high ocean freight will not be normality in the future. So the historical profits of carriers will be like mist in the morning, which is very beautiful but cannot last long.

Airfreight market rate in Week 35:
